The main airport of the city of Hong Kong, built on reclaimed land on the island of Chek Lap Kok, is the primary hub for Cathay Pacific Airways and Hong Kong Airlines. Having handled around 71.5 million passengers in 2019, HKIA is the world’s 13th busiest airport in terms of passenger traffic.

HKIA has 2 main terminals- Terminal 1, known to be one of the world’s largest passenger airport terminal buildings in the world, after the likes of Dubai International Airport and Beijing International Airport, is connected to the North Satellite Concourse by SkyBridge. Terminal 2, which has been closed for expansion, has been used only for check-in and processing facilities so far. The SkyPlaza is located within Terminal 2.

Since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, HKIA has been taking steps to make the airport safer for their staff and passengers. The basic rules such as use of masks/ face shields at the airport and the aircraft, regular sanitisation and cleaning of touch points at the airport are strictly followed to ensure a safe and worry-free experience for the passengers. Apart from the obvious, it is mandatory for Beijing bound passengers to present a valid negative Covid-19 test report issued by one of the testing institutions recognised by the HKSAR Government and all the arriving passengers will be required to get the Covid-19 testing immediately upon arrival and wait for test results before proceeding with immigration procedures.

HKIA provides various facilities to passengers like lounge access, airport ambassador, airport courier services, mobility assistance, nursing rooms, among many others to ensure that every passenger has everything at their disposal.
