The airport is located in Andheri, 8 km north of downtown Mumbai, India. Mumbai airport has 2 passenger terminals, Terminal 1 at Santacruz is used as domestic terminal and Terminal 2 is used for both international and domestic flight. Transfer between terminals requires a 15-20 minute landside drive.

They also provide several facilities for the Differently abled, which are fully accessible for passengers with disability or passengers with special needs. Designated parking, wheel chairs, lifts, toilets and easy access to lounge are available. Braille symbols and auditory signals are provided in the lifts for visually impaired.

Explore Mumbai

If you’ve got a long layover of at least 6 hours, head into Mumbai to explore the city. The airport is located a quick ride from the city center. Several bus routes connect to the East and West railway stations. Your most convenient and efficient option would be to hire a cab from the airport. You can leave your bags at the luggage/baggage storage service at T2 to make the best of your layover in Mumbai.

  1. Visit the Gateway of India, which was built in 1911 to welcome England’s King and Queen; at a distance of 22 km from airport.
  2. Visit the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya (CSMVS), a museum that provides a great overview of Indian art and history; at a distance of 21.5 km from airport.
  3. Visit the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, also known by its former name Victoria Terminus, is a historic terminal train station and UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its architecture, stained glass, and thousands of daily commuters; at a distance of 20.5 km from airport.
  4. Visit the Elephanta Caves, the city of Caves, situated on Elephanta Island about 7 kms from Mumbai’s mainland shore. The caves can be reached by an approx. 1-hour boat ride from Gateway of India.
  5. Enjoy the breath taking sunrise and sunset views at the famed Juhu Beach, at a distance of 5.8 km.
