1. Visit the Zócalo the Birthplace of the Constitution:,This place is the beating heart of Mexico City- where the country's first constitution was proclaimed in 1813. This is the largest square of Mexico City which thrives with Mexican history and culture. The National Palace, the Metropolitan Cathedral, and the Templo Mayor with its Aztec relics, makes Zócalo the perfect place to explore Mexico City’s ancient history.
2. Visit the Coyoacán & the Frida Kahlo Museum, Coyoacán is one of Mexico City's oldest neighborhoods. One can take a stroll around the maze of laneways, explore the hidden plazas, colonial-style mansions, and art-filled old churches like San Juan Bautista. The popular attraction of Coyoacán, the Frida Kahlo Museum is a must visit to view some of her renowned paintings, as well as works by her famous husband, the mural artist Diego Rivera. One has to purchase a ticket to visit the museum and it’s best advice to book it beforehand.
3. Visit the House of Tiles: Located just opposite to the picturesque Church of San Francisco, is the House of Tiles. It was originally built in 1596 and boasts a façade decorated by the Conde del Valle de Orizaba 150 years later, with exquisite blue and white tiles from Puebla. This is now an attraction-cum-restaurant where one can enjoy dining in the building’s courtyard, surrounded by what is one very large work of art.
4. Visit the Museo Soumaya:Even if you plan on not covering one of the popular attractions of Mexico City, a trip to Museo Soumaya is a must. This futuristic, architectural mind-meld was founded by Carlos Slim, one of the wealthiest men in the world, who named it for his deceased wife, Soumaya. Inside is more than 66,000 pieces of art that spans 3,000 years, from sculptures from Mesoamerica right up to works from Tintoretto and Salvador Dali. Even though the exterior of this museum is itself a work of art, the real masterpieces dwell within it. The majority of art is from the 15th to 20th centuries, and some famous collections of Mexican art.
