Chandigarh, India — After nearly two weeks of limited flight activity, Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport in Chandigarh has fully restored its daytime flight schedule, marking a welcome relief for travelers and airlines alike.

Runway Repair Work Successfully Completed

The airport had been operating under restricted hours to facilitate essential runway maintenance and resurfacing work. With the majority of the repair project now completed, regular commercial flight operations have resumed during the day, bringing back normalcy for passengers who had faced schedule adjustments and reduced connectivity.

Nighttime Closures to Continue Until November 18

While daytime services are back to normal, the airport has announced that the runway will remain closed from 11:00 PM to 5:00 AM daily until November 18. This limited closure allows engineers to complete the final phase of the project, including Polymer Modified Emulsion (PME) treatment and surface strengthening.

Officials emphasized that the overnight work schedule was planned carefully to minimize any impact on the majority of flights, which typically operate during the day.

Positive Outlook for Airlines and Travelers

Airlines are already reporting improved passenger bookings as the airport returns to its standard operating hours. The resumption of full-day services is expected to significantly boost both domestic and regional connectivity in the coming weeks.

Airport authorities expressed appreciation for passengers’ patience and cooperation during the temporary restrictions and assured that all works are being completed with safety and long-term efficiency in mind.
