Key Highlights of the Expansion
- State-of-the-Art Integrated Terminal
At the heart of this project is a brand-new integrated terminal building, which will be nearly four times the size of the existing facility. Spread across 75,000 square meters, the terminal is being designed to handle up to 4,200 passengers during peak hours, greatly enhancing travel efficiency and comfort.
- Extended Runway for Bigger Aircraft
To strengthen international connectivity, the current runway is being extended from 2,990 meters to 3,800 meters. This upgrade will enable the airport to handle wide-body aircraft such as the Boeing 747 and Airbus A380, opening doors for more global routes.
- Expanded Aircraft Parking
A new apron with 14 aircraft bays is also part of the development. This will reduce congestion on the ground and allow smoother operations, even during peak schedules.
- Enhanced Passenger Amenities
The expansion isn’t just about capacity—it’s about elevating the overall passenger experience. The new terminal will feature upgraded facilities, including a modern air traffic control (ATC) tower, a dedicated cargo terminal, a multilevel car parking facility, and a new approach road for easier access. Additionally, the number of aerobridges will increase from 4 to nearly 20, making boarding and deboarding faster and more convenient.
With these upgrades, Terminal 2 is expected to deliver a more seamless travel experience while supporting Delhi Airport’s growing passenger capacity.
