Dubai International Airport (DXB) has officially overtaken Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) to become the world’s busiest airport for 2025 based on total passenger seat capacity. This growth highlights Dubai’s strong position as a major global travel gateway, especially with its fully international traffic.
Dubai’s Flying Taxi Project Progresses
Alongside this achievement, Dubai is preparing for the next big step in city travel—flying taxis. The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has confirmed that the new aerial taxi service is on schedule to begin in the first half of 2026.
The first phase of the project will include four vertiports across the city, including one near DXB. These locations will connect key areas and help passengers travel faster without ground traffic.
A recent crewed test flight of the electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft was successfully completed, including a landing at Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC). This test marks another important step toward introducing the service to the public.
Dubai’s steady airport growth combined with its plan for urban air mobility shows how the city is moving toward the future of travel.
