Passengers flying in and out of Europe are facing longer wait times at several airports following the rollout of the European Union’s new Entry-Exit System (EES). The biometric registration process, which records the fingerprints and facial scans of non-EU travelers, has reportedly slowed down border control procedures across major airports.
Airports such as Prague, Paris, and Amsterdam have witnessed growing queues, with some travelers waiting over an hour to complete the new checks. Officials say the system is designed to strengthen border security and simplify future travel, but the transition period is proving challenging as both travelers and staff adjust to the new process.
Authorities are urging passengers to arrive well ahead of their scheduled departures and to stay updated with their airport’s latest advisories. Efforts are already underway to improve efficiency and reduce congestion as the system becomes fully integrated across all EU member states.
