A New Boost for Air Cargo Operations

This collaboration is focused entirely on improving the movement of goods across the two major hubs. With e-commerce volumes continuing to surge worldwide, both airports are working together to create smoother and more efficient logistics channels.

The partnership aims to:

Simplify and synchronize cargo handling procedures Strengthen regulatory alignment for faster processing Enhance capacity for rising cross-border e-commerce shipments

For Frankfurt, this initiative is an important part of its long-term “CargoHub Masterplan,” which is designed to keep the airport competitive and reinforce its position as Europe’s leading air freight gateway.

Terminal 3 Set to Open in April 2026

Alongside the cargo developments, Frankfurt Airport has also confirmed that Terminal 3—one of its largest infrastructure projects—is scheduled to officially open on April 22, 2026.

The new terminal will add significant capacity to the airport. Once operational, it is expected to accommodate around 19 million additional passengers per year. This upgrade is designed to support future growth, reduce congestion, and offer travelers a modern and more comfortable airport experience.
