Current Situation
- Airport Closure
Tribhuvan International Airport has been shut down amid growing civil unrest. Security forces, including the Nepalese Army, have been deployed to ensure safety in and around the airport premises.
- Flight Cancellations and Diversions
Major Indian carriers such as Air India, IndiGo, and SpiceJet have suspended flights to and from Kathmandu. Several flights already en route were either diverted to nearby airports like Lucknow, India, or forced to return to their origin airports.
- Indian Travel Advisory
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Government of India, has advised citizens to postpone all non-essential travel to Nepal until the situation improves. Indian travelers already in Nepal are urged to remain indoors, stay alert, and follow instructions from local authorities as well as the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu.
