Toronto Pearson (YYZ): Pearson LIFT Program
Toronto Pearson is advancing a multi-billion dollar redevelopment called Pearson LIFT (Long-term Investments in Facilities and Terminals). The initiative aims to transform Pearson into one of the world’s most advanced, passenger-friendly airports.
- Current status: The first phase, called the Accelerator, is underway, focusing on on-time performance, emissions reduction, and capacity upgrades for near-term growth.
- Future plans: Upcoming phases include Gateway, which will expand terminals to handle up to 65 million passengers annually by the early 2030s, and a full revitalization of Terminals 1 and 3 to modernize retail, amenities, and passenger processing.
Kelowna International Airport (YLW): Terminal Expansion
As British Columbia’s second-busiest airport, Kelowna International is undergoing a multi-year, multi-million dollar expansion.
- Current status: Phase 1 is in progress, adding a larger Departures Lounge, expanded security screening, and improved baggage carousels. Completion is expected in late 2026.
- Future plans: Phase 2, targeted for 2030, will further expand the terminal and optimize space for international arrivals.
Montreal-Trudeau International Airport (YUL): Transformation Projects
Backed by investment from the Canada Infrastructure Bank (CIB), YUL is modernizing its facilities with a focus on connectivity and accessibility.
- Key projects: Upgrades to parking, baggage systems, road networks, and terminals are underway. A new REM light rail station will link the airport directly to downtown Montreal, improving accessibility.
