- Fresh LAX Identity:
Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) has introduced a new design identity for LAX, reflecting the vibrant culture, history, and lifestyle of Los Angeles. Each terminal will feature unique design elements inspired by the city’s seasons, arts, and sports, offering travelers a stronger sense of place as soon as they arrive.
- Iconic LAX Sign Temporarily Removed:
As part of roadway upgrades and modernization works, the world-famous “LAX” sign is being carefully dismantled. Authorities have confirmed that the landmark will return in the coming years, potentially with a refreshed look, with a timeline set closer to 2030.
- Central Terminal Area Enhancements:
A major contract has been finalized to improve the Central Terminal Area (CTA). Passengers can look forward to upgraded benches, modern lighting, refreshed paintwork, and better wayfinding features—enhancing both comfort and convenience.
- Automated People Mover (APM) Nears Completion:
The long-awaited Automated People Mover (APM), designed to connect LAX terminals with the Consolidated Rent-A-Car facility and the Metro Transit Center, has entered its final testing stages. Once operational, this system will significantly improve connectivity, reduce traffic congestion, and streamline access to and from the airport.
With a $30 billion Capital Improvement Program driving these changes, LAX is positioning itself as a future-ready hub that blends world-class infrastructure with the cultural spirit of Los Angeles.
