Digital Systems for Airport Staff
To ensure smooth and efficient operations, NMIA will use an exclusive in-house app called ‘aviio.’ This app will act as a digital twin of the airport, providing real-time updates on everything from passenger queues to aircraft movements. The tool will be accessible to airport employees, airline crew, ground staff, and security teams, enabling better coordination and faster decision-making.
Enhanced Passenger Experience
The digital-first approach will also greatly benefit travelers. Operated by Adani Airports Holdings Ltd (AAHL), NMIA will offer several smart features through the Adani One app, including:
- Baggage Tracking—Travelers will get instant alerts when their checked-in luggage is loaded onto the conveyor belt.
- Pre-Booked Services—Passengers can reserve a slot for security checks, order food delivered directly to their boarding gate, or pre-book lounges and airport cabs.
- Digital Navigation—Smart wayfinding tools will guide passengers across terminals, making navigation effortless.
Modern Backend Operations
Behind the scenes, NMIA will run on a paperless model supported by one of the world’s fastest baggage handling systems. Using 360-degree barcode scanning, the system promises ultra-fast and accurate baggage movement, reducing waiting times and improving efficiency.
Flight Operations Timeline
While the inauguration takes place on September 30, regular commercial flights are expected to start by late October or early November. The initial schedule will see the airport operating 12 hours daily, with a transition to 24/7 service once final safety checks and approvals are completed.
