Two things worth saying plainly

One original observation. The variable at O'Hare isn't the airport, it's the arrival bank. Two flights landing at Terminal 5 at 14:00 is a twenty-minute CBP hall. Six flights landing between 14:00 and 15:00 is a ninety-minute one. Same airport, same staff, wildly different experience — and the schedule that determines it is public information nobody checks before booking a connection. We do check it, and we'll tell you if your arrival slot is a bad one.

And the contrarian view. Global Entry is excellent and I'd recommend it to anyone eligible. But travellers treat it as a solution to the whole ORD problem, and it isn't. Global Entry gets you through the CBP kiosk faster. It does nothing about baggage collection, the recheck desk, the terminal change or the second TSA line. On an international-to-domestic connection at O'Hare, that's the majority of the time — and Global Entry doesn't touch it.
