An observation. Terminal 2 is a genuinely impressive building — the art, the scale, the design. Travellers arriving into it for the first time often say it's the best terminal they've used in India. And yet almost every Mumbai booking we take is driven not by anything inside T2, but by what happens on the road outside it. The airport isn't the problem here. The city around it is, and no amount of terminal upgrade fixes that.

The contrarian point. With Navi Mumbai's new airport now in the picture, a lot of travellers assume the pressure on BOM will ease and terminal-change risk will fade. Don't plan around that yet. Route allocation between two airports in one metro region takes years to settle, and in the meantime you may end up with a *third* location to transfer between — which would make the geography harder, not easier. Several kilometres by road. Depending on traffic and time of day, the transfer alone can take anywhere from 20 minutes to well over an hour.
We wouldn't be comfortable under three and a half hours, and more if you're travelling in the evening peak. Two hours, as it's often sold, is not realistic.
